It has been wonderful learning about the cognitive presence, the difference of deep and surface learning and the implementation of feedback because I feel that they are important, particularly in the educational sector. Hattie’s notion of feedback has me reflecting on how to have engaging phone or video chats with students to provide such. Sometimes, online instructing and learning can be daunting where lack of face-to-face can permit for miscommunication (all those emails back and forth!). So I think that creating goals about approaches to learning where I will be mindful of what students do before and after within their learning context and deconstruct the dichotomy of “good” and “bad” students. Strategy to do so work from an anti-oppressive and strengths-based lens where each student is different and have walked a different path in life.
